I'm 100 of 100 on the "Stay independent until the last moment it's not viable" scale so take this statement with that bias but seeing the Big Ten and SEC factions go at it while Notre Dame chills, has fun future schedules and reasonable playoff access really affirms that independence rocks.

Notre Dame vs Army in Yankee Stadium on Sat. night. In 1929 my dad, Jack Elder, played for Knute Rockne's ND squad at Yankee Stadium. He intercepted a Chris Cagle pass and returned it for 100 yd TD to win the game and the National Championship. The 100 yd interception record still stands at ND.
