Moonrise over the Sonoran Desert two nights ago. This is a favorite Saguaro of mine and I fear that the land it occupies will soon fall victim to the cancerous growth of the Phoenix suburbs.

I can’t even believe I got this photo. I wasn’t supposed to chase that day. I ran out to the edge of the desert at the last minute. I happened across this scene, but this cell wasn’t producing much lightning. Still, I set up the cameras & waited. Finally, it let loose this beastly double bolt. #azwx
