In English we know it as “Carol of the Bells,” but the melody arises from a Ukrainian folk tradition of songs welcoming the new year and summoning the forces of nature to meet human labor and bring prosperity.
Do listen.
I wrote about the history here: snyder.substack.com/p/o-generous...
Another beautiful Shchedryk performance amidst ruins.

It was set in what used to be a DTEK thermal power plant — now destroyed by russia.

The contrast between russia’s destructive nature and the Ukrainian will to create beauty even in the darkest times is palpable.

Our nation's federal employees are more than just numbers on a spreadsheet.

They make sure we have clean water.

They protect us from financial fraud.

They provide healthcare to our communities.

They make our government actually work for people.

Do not forget this.

Charlie Kirk said of Jasmine Crockett, “What she represents is very serious, which is the continued attempt to eliminate the white population in this country.” You call that incitement. But it's free speech, and so are the things people said about Kirk.
Charlie Kirk’s Rules of Free Speech
Republicans want to prosecute the left for incendiary words that could lead to violence. They should read Kirk’s own incendiary words first.

Let me break down what’s in the bill and why it’s a full-scale land grab. 🧵

Like you I am focused on Los Angeles.

But we better learn to multitask. Because we need to also stay focused on this: Trump turned over the staffing, funding & inner workings of our federal agencies to a man who attacked his Treasury Secy & who he tells us is a drug addict.

In my new op-Ed, I argue that the “male glaze” of media and politics is empirically, normative, and politically wrong and that progressives should focus more on the left turn of young women.
