I was there in the 2017 desert bloom. It's the most magical, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
For me, the hardest step of writing a paper is not starting, it's when you have written almost everything (except introducgion), have your plots almost as you want them, but the overall paper is just not. Good. Enough.
And it's so close to completion, but it's just not there yet.

Given the looming massive budget slashes back in the US, any US early career researchers who are looking for options - Germany has several really great funding schemes! The Humboldt fellowship and Walter Benjamin (DFG) program are excellent for 2 year fellowships!

Hello everyone! I’d like to advertise a recent paper: arxiv.org/abs/2505.04699.
Led by Lavinia Delfini, we use the Gaia XP spectra to derive accretion rates for 145 975 candidate YSO Hα emitters all-sky within 500 pc. We find a percentage of accretors of 70% at 2 Myr and 2.8% at 10 Myr.

Hello everyone! I’d like to advertise a recent paper: arxiv.org/abs/2505.04699.
