Hey folks. Lily is a YA author who has had a tough year and could use a little cash to help her out. She and her elderly mother are in a precarious position and a small donation would mean the world to them.

You know you’re a Mexican married to a white guy when your husband asks how someone is your cousin and you have to break down what a second cousin is, and what that even means. This isn’t hard, y’all.

Thank thank goodness it does.
people say “you need to start living in the real world” but they forget that the real world includes lupines and lightning bugs and ginger beer and starlight and sea coasts and Renoir paintings and Rachmaninoff’s piano concertos and fog banks and foxes playing in snow.

I have coined a new descriptive phrase that will be all the rage in Project Manager circles in 2025: ‘Pissed-off stake-holery.’

I really like the term executive function theft. It’s pithy and encapsulates the consequences of dumping the back end tasks on the same people over and over.
I've been thinking about a post a fellow librarian did about executive function theft since she posted it. (hedgehoglibrarian.com/2023/08/14/e...)

And the ways she points out that someone not doing that work dumps it on someone else, as well as all the places it doesn't actually need to exist.

My husband bought me a guitar for our anniversary and Louie isn’t impressed by how much I play. Apparently my only function is to play with HIM. As an aside I’m thinking or bring back my ‘advice from a dog columnist.’ Louie is here to help you live your best life.

1. Real estate signs (because people shouldn’t be flat)
2. Amazon delivery people
3. This delightful fairy house someone made of sticks.

He had other fine qualities is all I’m sayin.
