Sir Bernard Lovell, founder of @jodrellbank, died in August 2012.
That autumn we planted bluebells in his memory in the gardens here, quite near to the #FirstLightPavilion that tells his story and the story of the Observatory.
Now, in 2025, they're doing well and looking lovely 😊

So, living in Dayton Ohio, a large part of our history is the Wright Brothers and the invention of the airplane.

I just learned something a few minutes ago. A formerly enslaved man from Louisiana named Charles Page received a patent for his "airship" months before the Wright bros
