We don't have to choose policy that erodes our civil rights and harms our economy. There is a better way.

It's official - the House will be out AGAIN next week, for a sixth consecutive week. That means the House will have worked 20 days over 17 weeks. The last House vote was on Sept. 19.

It seems crazy - but the GOP-led U.S. House has worked only 20 days in the past 16 weeks, as the unfinished business of Congress is piling up during this government shutdown. 9 government funding bills still need a vote in the House, which has been out the past 5 weeks. www.ajc.com/politics/202...
Stuck in a shutdown, the work piles up on Capitol Hill
House Speaker Mike Johnson has scrapped legislative work for five straight weeks in an effort to pressure Senate Democrats to vote to reopen the government.

Forcing a Governor to call up their National Guard (or doing it for them) is heresy against decades of Republican policy and rhetoric.
This morning, the Trump Administration’s Department of War gave me an ultimatum: call up your troops, or we will. It is absolutely outrageous and un-American to demand a Governor send military troops within our own borders and against our will.

The outrage over EMTALA is another demonstration that Ronald Reagan would be cast out as a RINO by MAGA. None of this stuff was controversial. They are losing their minds over things that were once non-partisan.

Love how they trot this weasel out, who has never been tough or hardcore in his life, to try and intimidate people. All that little dictator energy.
Stephen Miller: "All that bullshit is done, over, it's finished. The gangbangers you deal with- they think they're ruthless? They have no idea how ruthless we are. They think they're tough? They have no idea how tough we are. They think they're hardcore? We are so much more hardcore than they are"

His plan: purge older generals with the excuse they’re “out of shape,” as if generals fight in the trenches. The aim: fire expert leaders loyal to the Constitution & replace them with younger Trump loyalists to have total control of the military. The final safeguard of our democracy will collapse.

YouTube didn’t have to pay Trump $24.5M. Their Terms of Service clearly allowed suspension. Settling was pure capitulation to a politically connected bully, not a legal necessity. Alphabet could have defended itself, avoided the payout, and shown lawsuits like this don’t automatically yield millions

The biggest divide is not between “right” and “left." It’s between democracy and oligarchy. The billionaires who control our economy and democracy seek to divide us. They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see that they have all the wealth and power.
The top 10% now hold 67.4% of all the wealth in the US.

The bottom 50% hold 2.5%.

Tech bros love fascism because it flatters their egos: hierarchy as ‘meritocracy,’ authoritarianism as ‘efficiency,’ and nationalism as cover for hoarding wealth. It’s disruption politics for guys who mistake privilege for genius.

It really can not be emphasized enough that "exaggerating the danger of the left" is a key, central tactic of aspiring fascists. Look back at every country that slid into authoritarianism & you'll find a campaign like this preceding it. Every time. It's part of the script.

If I ever stumbled into absurd wealth, my one “rich guy excess” would be paying Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson to sing She Brakes for Rainbows for me. Nothing weird, doesn’t even have to be live, just their voices on that song. Forget yachts and mansions; that would be the dream.

A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.
