Animation is a medium, not a genre, and, like any medium, there are some concepts that can only be properly portrayed using it. House of Leaves is an unfilmable book, the wizard Ekh in the 1983 short "Wow, a talking fish!" Would never have the same impact without being animated.

I feel like folks don't understand that you can both be nihilistic about the future and actively try to fix it. Yeah, I think the world is fucked, we'll miss our climate goals, the US is going to decline dramatically. But I'm going to keep trying to make things better anyway. Why? Because I want to!
