I read a lot and any people have considered this stuff, but to my mind nobody's suggested a third away. Reducing need is good. Reducing need for each other is bad. I don't see how to have one without the other.

I really, really dislike LitRPG. Authors can only ask readers to suspend belief once, and layering on the characters keeping track of their stats is not just completely eye rolling but reveals all the cracks and flaws in the handwavium of the world building.
