As a future health professional I plan to incorporate nutrition into my life by using what I learned to create a meal plan centered on what my body needs to stay healthy. For clients, I plan to work around their diet and cultural foods, educating them on fats and carbs@beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This week the tariffs order hit me like a set a bricks and reality came crashing down once I realized the severity of it.As someone who online shops a lot I'm now learning to budget and look for things in stores. Items that are 3-5 dollars are now 30+ bc of shipping fees @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This article I found on healthy diet can be very helpful for someone to give them a baseline on how to have a healthy diet. This article by WHO is simple and informational and its easy to read. I chose this article because the WHO is dedicated to providing factual info. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

For something so small it is shocking to see how much sodium and sugar is in this sponge cake. It is always easy to overlook you daily intake of added sugars and sodium but looking at the nutrition profile helps with that. Ill definitely eat twinkies more in moderation @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Tom’s story shows that behavior change with obesity, is difficult. Quick fixes don’t work but sustainable ones do. From his story I want to focus on understanding self-monitoring. Tom’s journey shows that empathy and patience are key to a lasting and personalized change.@beh353.bsky.social #beh353

According to this source, Triglycerides can come from any food source but those that are stored in the body from fat and added sugars are the main concern since they greatly increase triglyceride levels. It is important to keep watch over these as they can affect the heart@beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This week, after watching James Corden's response to fat shaming, I learned that childhood obesity is directly linked to poverty. This could come from many factors, but the biggest one being a lack of access to healthy and affordable foods and a balanced diet @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This is a good baseline for managing your hunger and developing good eating habits. Having a healthy and balanced meal is one step into managing hunger, but knowing what to do and having a baseline understanding of good eating habits goes a long way in lowering your hunger@beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One barrier of unhealthy eating I struggled with is unhealthy diet of friends and family. Growing up my family had a history of high cholesterol and blood pressure; this was a result of being used to consuming foods rich in oils/butters but low in vegetables and fruits. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This is a great example of a "supplement" that does not aid in someone's overall health as it is marketed for male enhancement but causes adverse reactions to other medications. This product does not promote/provide wellness. Can it even be considered a dietary supplement?@beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Diet it key when it comes to supplemental intake. Taking vitamins/supplements can be beneficial in cases where deficiencies occur but, in this article, it states that vitamins don't prevent chronic diseases. Although not needed vitamins aid in other aspects of your health @beh353.bsky.social #BEH353

This is a great source that is credible and trusted seeing as it is being written by nutrition experts. I don't think the grain-free diet will help in weight loss seeing as it is one of the main food groups that we eat. Based on the source it is helpful to substitute grain or take it out of your diet due to medical conditions, but grain is a core component of many foods @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One fad diet that I found interesting was the grapefruit diet where you had to have a grapefruit or grapefruit juice with every meal. Its thought to be cleansing and help remove toxins that promote weight loss. There are other versions like the steamed cabbage diet @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This recipe is a great example of a balanced meal. It incorporates almost all of the food groups and is especially hearty in the protein and veggies section. Fruits from the tomato, veggies from the mushrooms/squash and protein from the fish on top. I'd love to try this @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I mainly eat rice and eggs or rice with salmon. One way I can make this meal more nutrient dense is by adding more veggies and making my plate more diverse. Most of the foods I eat are plain and usually lack one or two food groups. I can start by trying to incorporate all @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

My eating habits are very sporadic and random. The foods I ate were heavily processed and didn't contain many nutrients but were full of added sugars. Tracking the things I ate was easy but also hard especially for condiments since I didn't know how to track measurements.@beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Meatless recipes offer a nice source of carbohydrates, the perfect balance of fiber packed veggies; eating balanced while staying healthy. Not all carbs are bad, it is only the ones that are unprocessed that are best for you and nutritional in value. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One fun fact that I learned is that carbohydrates are macronutrients full of fiber; which reduces your cholesterol levels. We need carbohydrates for our health because they are the only food that turns foods into sugar and passes glucose nutrients through the brain. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
