I strongly second this! 👏🏾

When talking about science communication, I also always stress that *all* forms and forums of communication matter 🔄

Whether it’s a big, factually correct but details-lite TV show or movie…or just chatting to granny or your mates in a pub 🗣️
Fantastic piece in Nature Reviews Neuro by @nicolecrust.bsky.social on the importance of science communication. My take? Everything matters - just do something. It will make a difference for how science is valued and trusted, how community understands. Let's get out there and communicate! 👏
The unexpected value of communicating science to the public

Any bias we currently have, AI will scale it. That's it.

At BASELINE, Black applicants are denied mortgages at a rate 80% higher than white applicants. Outsourcing approvals to AI will WIDEN the gap, especially for Black women who get the worst deals in home loans. This is #TheDoubleTax.

Rest in power, Mr. Floyd, among the many thousands gone.

And we'll never forget the martyrs of Ferguson that tried to prevent your death and so many others... but paid with their lives.

November 2024: Still no clear answers about my health. But I was on BBC's Autumnwatch with Chris Packham in late October (even did some camera trapping with them!)

Including esp. all the women of color who didn't get to research their own ideas, weren't even accepted to the lab, or weren't allowed to apply
Can you, just for a second, picture how many more vaccines we’d have & diseases we’d be able to fight today if she hadn’t been held down & back for so long?

Now picture this happening to women in *every* field *every* single day.

Humanity holds itself back by holding women back

Hey, I’m finally here thanks to @adriennefriend.bsky.social!

I’m Dr Tanesha Allen and I’m a zoologist who knows a lot about badgers. I’m also an EDI consultant for Oxford Uni and Cambridge Uni + a panel member for the Royal Society. So my life is a weird mix of badgers + advocacy work 😂
