Customer service bots are awesome in how they manage to make me angry and frustrated before I get to talk to a human to actually solve the problem. 🫠

“Protect the children!” is & was rarely about actual concern for kids (unlike, say, food support for families with kids, or childcare support, or vaccinations, or actual education instead of warehousing, or…).
Never forget the same people defending pedophilia have spent years trying to convince the public that drag queens and trans people are a threat to children.

It’s all smoke and mirrors to allow the real predators to roam free.

Now more than ever, we need to be supporting our indie fiction mags, especially ones that feature bold, startling writing. Please give what you can! 💝

FYI I've been talking to booksellers who've had a tough time getting copies of Lessons in Magic and Disaster... Apparently there are shipping problems and the warehouse won't have more copies until 9/8. So if your local storem doesn't have it yet, please be patient and let em know you're waiting 💝

@charliejane.bsky.social 's latest novel "Lessons in Magic and Disaster" arrived toiday from Green Apple books. The book looks and feels so awesome. The pages are just so soft and comfy. Charlie Jane's inscription is just absolutely wonderful and marvelous, and I love it completely.

I learned how to make blizzard books, following the instructions in Hedi Kyle's book "The Art of the Fold", which is awesome. These make a booklet of pockets that you can use to slip things into. #bookbindingart #bookfolding

Second in my “Plein Car” series — Wentworth Park pavilion on a rainy day, drawn from the parking lot. Ink lines, bold brush details, and layered crayon colour bring the scene to life without ever stepping into the rain. #art #pleinair #InkAndWash #neocolourII #sketching

This whole thread up and down about 90s culture manosphere.

I was called a wench in 6th grade English class.

My bra straps were snapped.

The standard joke of "There are no girls on the internet."

The stares I got for just daring to walk into game and comic book stores.
And I mean that when I was 12 and getting the highest grade in my algebra class, the older boys I sat with dealt with it by calling me a flat-chested wench when we got tests back — in front of our teacher, who didn’t really deal with it in any serious way

Those were our conditions

YES! Trans rights ARE all women’s rights.

Body autonomy should be All people’s rights, of course, but those rights have been / still are too often denied to all women. To hell with those trying to fear-monger otherwise.
“The ‘grown women’ of Ireland remember very well what erasure and control and lack of bodily autonomy feel like and it’s for this very reason that we stand so passionately with the trans community today”

I can't see this POS making it through the primary. One of the other guys running for the Republican nomination is differently horrible. There are some sensible people running as Democrats, let's hope one of them rises to the top.

Isn’t this what all dominant groups try to do, to steal all compassion & oxygen for themselves, whether it’s men-in-crisis or “racial purity”, have-more-babies campaigns, or anti-boycotting campaigns?
Increasingly I think a major function of “masculinity” IS its crisis — a vehicle for the dominant & dominating group to justify focusing their social attentions primarily on themselves
