Booze and cocktail history nerd. I host the My Tiny Bottles podcast & YouTube series (mytinybottles.com), and teach cocktail classes online and in-person as Tammy's Tastings (tammystastings.com). Also a SMOF, so may occasionally post about SF conrunning.
I just listened to a whole podcast about whether Colorado style is a real thing! (maybe)

Trying to get trending in Canadian Bluesky now, then? You can be right that *you* don't like Montreal. Just don't try to speak for the rest of us.

You a tavern style fan, then?
November 23, 2025 at 1:03 PM
It is an experience, that's for sure!

I almost never want more than 8 oz of any one beer at a time.
November 22, 2025 at 11:09 PM
That looks very fun.

It's good to be a regular

Presumably a riff on the Army & Navy cocktail? I've never really liked that one, maybe I'll like the Mexican Navy better. www.liquor.com/army-navy-co...
You’ll Go Nuts for This Creamy Gin Sour Riff
The almond syrup orgeat lends rich, nutty flavor to this Gin Sour riff.

Shocked, shocked I am, that all those badly-rendered people are white.

That paragraph of that article broke my brain. I hate this timeline.

I've had to adjust my judgementalness on this matter now that I'm in Canada.

Is Black Manhattan a riff, a sibling, or a cousin?
November 22, 2025 at 2:40 AM
That was my first thought. Although there's an argument to be made that the first Manhattan might have been created when a bartender subbed vermouth - a sweet & bitter thing - for the sugar and bitters in a Cocktail/Old Fashioned. Which sounds like a riff to me.
November 21, 2025 at 6:45 PM
Not disagreeing, but curious what pairs of drinks would qualify as cousins, if any? What would make something a riff vs a cousin?

@buttonlass.bsky.social is brilliant, it's true

Yeah, I did 2 oz rum, 3/4 oz lime, 1 tbsp sugar, but I'm going to knock it back to 2 tsp next time.

There's something about Bacardi I just can't stand, and I think a lot of people agree and it's why they think they don't like rum, because Bacardi is often the only rum they've ever had. Unfortunately, Havana Club isn't an option for people in the US.

Love an oyster po'boy!

The outside induced so much horror in me that I've never even considered going in. Thanks for taking one for the team!
November 20, 2025 at 11:33 PM
For this one I did maybe a 5 second stir, then put the rum in and stirred that a bit too, then shook. Just to be on the safe side. Are you using superfine or regular, @davidwondrich.bsky.social ? I only had regular.
