Booze and cocktail history nerd. I host the My Tiny Bottles podcast & YouTube series (mytinybottles.com), and teach cocktail classes online and in-person as Tammy's Tastings (tammystastings.com). Also a SMOF, so may occasionally post about SF conrunning.
I am a good duck cooker! Yum.

Ha! Love these AI-suggested responses in YouTube to @bill-n1vux.bsky.social 's comments on the YouTube video for this episode. Want to know why we're talking about couches in a tasting video? Watch the video or read the transcript. Leave a comment and I'll post what it suggested I respond!

It's a daiquiri kind of day. Made with sugar, not simple, which really does make a delightful difference.

Very fun long read here. "New checkers are advised that you can’t trust books—they tend not to be fact-checked." "The longer you check, the more you doubt what you think you know." Researching tiny bottles and cocktail classes, I can totally relate! archive.is/RFTyo

One of these things is not like the other one, but it was a nice way to finish!

More wines have arrived, so here's a close up of the selection.

Champagne and fried chicken party. Who knew that was a power pairing?

I was so confused by this headline I clicked through. Now I've read the article, and I'm still so confused.

I don't believe this ever touched a barrel, despite what the label says. And it's so smooth I'm not sure I believe it's 40% either. But you can sure taste the Mayan corn on this moonshine. Yum.

A tree in my backyard had a full canopy of leaves on Sunday morning. Almost all of them had fallen by Monday morning, making for quite the mix of white and green completely covering the patio!

Nothing more French than a choice of veal or guinea fowl for your airplane meal. (We're getting one of each so we can swap halfway)

Might as well try a couple more French whiskies here in the airport lounge. Although "French" overstates the Talbert, which is a blend of Scottish, German and French whiskies. I know nothing about the Bellevoye "Triple Malt" except that I like it better!

Our wine purchases were 3 grand cru riesling (2 Schlossberg, 1 Brand) and one weird-but-in-a-good-way skin contact natural dry Gewurztraminer that is a giant rose and spice bomb. All from Domaine Martin Jund in Colmar.

Wine day! We left Strasbourg and went to Colmar, visited a couple of wineries there and enjoyed the charming town vibe. Bought 4 bottles from our fave. Then came back to Strasbourg and stopped into a wine bar for more wine and grignotages (aka snacks).

I wouldn't normally eat a plate of cheese for breakfast, but I'm in France, so it's really good cheese.

Had a great time at Code Bar last year, so we came back. Still love it. Weird experimental spirits were shockingly tasty for a couple of sips - it was amazing how well the lettuce and onion on the doner kebab came through on the nose.

It's always so interesting visiting France as a North American Chartreuse fan...

The law/rule already exists. I'm sure it was put into place to protect SNAP users, not to prevent them from being helped, but the law is pretty clear: "No retail food store may single out coupon users for special treatment in any way." If they violate it, they could lose their ability to take SNAP

I love visiting my friend Rebecca, because it's the place where I'm most likely to get to try new-to-me booze. She's a liquor buyer, and the two Bulleits in the back are WILDLY different single barrel samples that are identical except for the barrel. Super cool. Gins and Redemption tasty too.

OMG, I really want a cat that's gin. So cute!

We ended up at La Dolce Vita for dessert. This might be the most Tammy picture ever, for I do like to proclaim.

One of those drinks is the Sharpie Moustache from Amor y Margo, modeled here by @schanel.bsky.social. Another was a gin martini served in a very cold rocks glass and modeled by Kevin.

TLW was my Cheers for a long time, but I was unimpressed tonight. Time to move on. Next bar was new to me, Hidden King. They clearly have a bunch of batched cocktails in the freezer, because they make them all available in a flight of 4. Which was delicious, but I am LIT.

Cabin in the Woods, Clockwork Orange and Purple People Eater. I'm sure you can figure out which is which.
