right, so … this is why the layoffs that are being attributed to ai are happening. it’s technically true but it’s not about replacing people with ai it’s about spending out the ass on ai investments and having to cover those expenses to maintain a margin by lopping off salary expenses

i wish more people were talking about this, that the endgame of surveillance capitalism turned out to be using all that data to churn out products that are sort of right some of the time and convincing us all to accept that
“good enough” is the main problem, companies will accept a 65% if it saves them 99% in labor costs in the immediate future, while tomorrow’s thinkers will take the D+ if it means passing the class and not having to do the homework. “Cognitive debt” a fun way of saying generation destroyed.
