I love a little whimsy now and then.
The process of building the #DataViz bookcase recorded with {camcorder} in #RStats! 📹

(Unsure if #ggplot2 bookcase is easier or harder to assemble than Ikea bookcase...)

Has someone done a good compendium of research on visual perceptions that are culturally dependent / vary clearly by culture in surprising ways? Would be useful for design. Fwiw nearly everything about understanding visualization is of course about aquired literacy. 📊
I can happily shift at will between squares and circles, it feels multistable to me. But the real-world relevance might crop up in visual communications design, which is full of conventions that ”feel” universal but are culturally learned.

Saw this really cool scatterplot grouping chart that showed companies ranking along many factors: innovation, work life balance, agility, pay, etc. it had Ford, google, Lockheed Martin, other Tech giants. I’m searching for it and coming up empty. Anyone else see it and could send it my way?

@figma.com I’m building charts in our library and I love Grid! Q: Since cells can’t have strokes, I need objects in the cells to add grid lines in X&Y axis charts like a scatterplot. But then the cells are occupied and chart marks don’t resize appropriately. What’s the fix?
