Good article. My rule of thumb for improving things is that you have to spend money to save money.
Over the last 14 years, the government created a welfare system that is a) less generous but b) more expensive. So there's obviously a strong argument for reform there. But unlikely to get a better outcome than the past if you use the same approach: my column in this weekend's @financialtimes.com:

Governments chase illusory short-term cuts when what’s needed are routes back into lasting employment

Cutting disability rights is usually first because it is the most diverse group of people to whom ableism can be widely applied.
Keir Starmer took over a political party that was built to fight for workers and the working class, and turned it into a liberal, white supremacist, and zionist outfit. I hate the UK as much as I hate the US, and hope they implode, as well. But damn, I didn't see cutting disability rights coming!

Had a huge "hopeful" win today a big software company that manages 11 million people's records promised to fix their form I found an error in. People won't be misgendered in their accounts. Let's hope they actually fix it, if they don't they can expect many mails and calls from me.

I really love this as a bridge toward even longer-termism like Transition Design and System Stewardship. Really practical framing and even tools. The question I'm left with as a worker is how can I stretch time? Seem all I get is deadlines that limit thinking and relationship building

Finally a really good write up on using the word "stakeholder" and the impacts of unhelpful labels used in engagement practices. Time to step up our language game. link.springer.com/article/10.1...
Reimagining the language of engagement in a post-stakeholder world - Resource
This article explores how the term "stakeholder" can unintentionally reinforce colonial narratives and systemic inequities.

Climate governance is dominated by men, yet the health impacts of the climate crisis often affect women, girls, & gender-diverse people disproportionately, argue affiliated researcher Ramit Debnath et al. ahead of CoP29 in Azerbaijan.

I shudder to think what that is here in Australia, might have some emails to send to our Designs leaders and associations
🚨 Those from upper-middle-class backgrounds, and the privately-educated, are significantly overrepresented in the creative professions in the UK.

Our new research uncovers stark inequalities in access to careers in the creative industries, including television, film, and music 🧵

To the people approaching me as "burnout coaches" well done finding a victim survivor. I do think #burnout is a collective issue and particularly in the health and NFP sectors. All the best with your business, happy to collaborate if you are interested in advocating for safer working conditions
