Photograph of the Chinese pavilion at Biddulph Grange Garden in Staffordshire. Predominantly red, ornate structure reflected in the pond beyond. Although it was taken taken late autumn, the scene is still quite green from the ferns on the pond banks. This bit of the garden sits in a dip so it is quite protected from the elements. One of my top three gardens. Under the care of the National Trust.

Natural Bridge, Kicking Horse River, British Columbia, Canada. June 2018

The river has cut through and under the rock creating a stone bridge.

In the foreground the emerald green waters of the river thunder through a gap in a rock face. The crack is the outlet from a a tunnel created and under the rock creating a natural bridge over the river. Beyond the rock barrier the river wiggles up the valley through a conifer forest towards a jagged peak (sorry can't remember the name) which still has a snow covering. Many of the trees are grey and lifeless, killed by Pine borer beetle larvae which are devastating the forests in the area... another result of Climate Change.

Common Blye Butterflies

Side on view of two common Blue Butterflies on either side of the same grass seedhead creating a slightly offset mirror image of each other. The butterfly on the right is at the top of the seedhead looking down to wards the ground and the butterfly on the left is slightly below the top of the grass seedhead.. In this image some of the blue hairs that cover its head, thorax and abdomen are clearly visible. The blue is also present on the wings spreading out from the joint at the thorax and fading into brown across the rest of the wing, There are black spots with white circular rings dispersed across the wing and towards the outer edge these are joined by orange spots and some change to more of an arrow head shape where the orange joins the black and white spot and the front edge of the orange has a black v shape which points towards the head of the buterfly. The edges of the wings are clearly marked by a dark line and white fringing.
