I still haven’t found the time to get to it but the more I hear about it the more I want to just drop everything and play it haha

Very much in the same position, if I make time to play anything it’s usually my gamedev time that has to suffer 🥲 Paradoxically I want to play more RPGs to broaden my understanding of the genre but they’re all so long that it’s basically impossible.

Hmm, I think by allowing players to disable encounters you might run the risk of actually encouraging grinding, as they won’t be accumulating as many experience points or resources from random encounters. So they’re more likely to get walled by a mandatory fight.

Really loving these beauty shots you’ve been working on for the trailer, especially this one with the sound effects and the ambience just feels really polished!

I think that as long as you make something that you would love, and that you would be obsessed with, then there’ll be people out there who have the same interests and like the same games who’ll love it too.

The hard part is reaching them in the first place, but that’s what social media is for ;P

It’s a tough thing to contend with. Not many other mediums have to deal with the colossal time sink that is game development; especially for a new indie who doesn’t normally earn a cent until their project is finished.

It probably is but I also think shortening it in any way would negatively affect the flow of that part of the game so I think it’s fine.

As long as everyone promises not to say the full game is a ripoff because a third of the content is in the free demo 🥲

I reread this and wonder if “3 more bosses” on top of the existing midboss is possibly too much for the demo, especially considering that the full game isn’t going to be *too* long (the current plan for the demo is about 20-25% of the full game, not counting some optional content).

Environment art will take a good month extra at least on top of that, and cutscenes will take even longer. I'm guessing cutscenes and writing are going to be the bulk of development time for the whole game. I might need to take some time to make some tools to speed it up...

There's actually surprisingly little left until the entirety of the first act (the stuff that'll be included in the demo) is playable in an early state. Maybe a handful more rooms, three more bosses and about 5 or 6 random encounter enemies. At that point, gameplay wise, it's done.
