Hit 4000 birds ringed at Carey this autumn today with a monster of a 20.0g Sedge Warbler! However, the stand out highlight of the morning was this stunning HOBBY!! Not something I ever thought I would be lucky enough to catch!

Terrific to see Careys Osprey chick 5R5 in the harbour for the first time on our Summer Safari this AM. Also unringed Osprey fish catch, 2 WT Eagle, 1 juv Goshawk, 1 C Scoter, 1 Spotted Redshank, 2 Bearded Tit, 9 Spoonbill and 11 Avocet.

This morning's two Ospreys in the Wareham Channel, seen from the Cordite Way VP. Not the greatest photos, but the tatty one looks unringed, the other one (which was moulting a primary on each wing) may be ringed. Neither actually caught a fish while I was there. @harbourbirds.bsky.social

Last night we successfully ringed the chicks of ‘Nest 2’, the juveniles of our male 374 and his new mate 1H1. The chicks were ringed 5R7 and 5R8, both with intermediate weights of 1.64kg so sexes couldn’t be immediately determined, although that should become clear in the coming weeks.

Wow all the threats and insults to me because I know as most people do that biology is real. I want single sex spaces for women and children not to be medicalised and sterilised. Gender ideology is crumbling so you can scream at me all you like , we all know that is the case.

RSPB still prefers licensing scheme for driven grouse shooting rather than a ban, but its 5yr policy review is due in Oct 2025, based on whether it considers 'effective reform' has been delivered since 2020.
