It was after reading Weavers, Scribes, and Kings by @ahpodany.bsky.social that I realized why so much ancient fashion was basically just sheets - when fabric is that valuable you don’t want to waste any by cutting it into shapes.

A roll of aluminum foil is maybe one of the most incredible things you will ever hold in your life. That was a creation for kings and you wrap it around food and throw it in the dumpster. You talk about planes as aluminum cans, as if both are not one of the most incredible creations in history.

You look around a Waffle House or really any structure for the base consumer and all these materials and constructions are goddamn miracles.

None of this stuff would have existed or could going back sometimes the entire duration of your life before it.

The basic human experience is deprivation.
