Curiously if anyone out there has paid for and done the official transcendental meditation training. With David Lynch’s passing, and you know who’s return, I think it’s my time to finally do it.

Course on Resisting Fascism approved!

It's a global history course, so hit me with your non-European books/films/songs/stories/people/etc.
This has actually given me the idea to teach a global history class next year called simply Resisting Fascism. Already thinking of films and novels and songs and projects. Friends, what would you include in such a class?
Might as well take advantage of the #Trumpocalypse to hawk my book, which explores political responses to fascist occupation the last time around:

Watched Mulholland Drive last night for class—first time since seeing it in a theater too many years ago. I really enjoyed it, and more than my first time I think. But still wish it had been a tv show.

Trying to get the most out of my Max subscription. Alternating tonight between Somebody Somewhere and The Penguin, which really levels up in Ep 4.

Need Criterion Channel movie recs. This week I’ve watched Lost Highway, Cry Baby, Polyester, and Reality Bites. I also tried to watch Here but it was so boring I gave up.

I cannot abide YouTubeTV’s coming price jump and so I’m looking for the best alternative. Hulu live or Sling?

Is that gash in your leg really why you have stopped?

In keeping with using this platform to admit embarrassing lapses in my movie history, today I watched Polyester for the first time. My god, I loved that film.

Traveling to Austin Saturday to see Ride, but very much enjoying “Shoegazemas” already this morning. Thanks @djjohnrichards.bsky.social

The time has come. I am now going to watch Reality Bites, starting right NOW.

If I was better at AI art you’d be looking at a picture of Luigi from Mario Bros playing a flugelhorn instead of reading this.

Discovered at 2:30 am having just finished off a plastic wrapped summer sausage packed away deep DEEP in mom’s closet. Now settling in for neighborhood watch before selecting a new toy just off this awesome addition to the room.

Charli XCX and Red Rockers. Yep, that sounds about right for my most-listened to songs.

Pump Up the Volume is unavailable to stream legally so either it’s physical media or illegal streaming. I guess that’s appropriate? PS I never saw it.

I asked RiffRanger, my AI postpunk expert and interlocutor whether any of the Pitchfork best albums were postpunk ish. Even RiffRanger couldn’t help but recommend Brat.

Best of TV lists pushing me to subscribe to Max again, but it’s the Yacht Rock doc that will get me.

Key and Peele should reunite and update their East/West bowl sketch by just reading the names on the Pitchfork best of 2024 list.
