Here's some of my favorite pieces from when I did an October drawing challenge four years ago. I worked way too big and intricate for a daily challenge and it cause my hands and social life to suffer but I'm still fond of a good deal of these.

The amount of things you might need to know before you can know anything about anything is almost instantly disorientating. The world flickers in & out of scale & focus, randomly & very fast. You make some toast instead.

Landscapes are written about, but there will be no landscape writing. Ghosts appear, but not in the ghost stories. Animals feature heavily, but there is nothing here that might be described as “animal fiction”.

Panty & Stocking S2 #10-B is maybe the coolest thing the series has done. Evoking oldschool vibes can be fun, but it's a played-out concept. "Crappy VHS recording of a Conan-ish fantasy series dubbed into a language you don't know" is much more specific, it feels like a real artifact you came across

Noriyuki Kitanohara animated moments like everyone's favorite chase sequence in Nichijou #02, so ofc he comes up with excuses to add similarly crazy bursts of BG animation in CITY. He said he was checking this scene in June 2024 but it feels like he animated it from scratch, uncredited as usual
