This female watches on in horror…as does much of the rest of the world.
It’s time to #wakeup and see the destruction!
He’s tanking the economy, destroying our standing in the world, depriving women and LGBTQ communities of their fundamental rights, attacking the environment, disappearing legal immigrants, gutting Veteran’s benefits and Social Security. And he’s making you pay for his golf trips while he’s at it.

@markelias.bsky.social, I work a world away (Aus 🇦🇺) lecturing in inclusive education. Martin Niemöller’s message is the first I teach. I do speak to the next generation, but the gravity of the message is often lost; hidden by the ideals of fortune they feel entitled. The path forward is unsettling
If I could speak to the heads of big law firms, I would ask: Is the risk of losing some clients worth betraying your oath to the rule of law?

To everyone nodding but refusing to take a stand, I say: You are ignoring Martin Niemöller’s message. It is you that Martin Luther King Jr. was condemning.

Despicable. Every child - repeating that again - EVERY CHILD deserves access to quality education. Not only is it the right, human position to advocate, it’s also the long-term economically advantageous approach. Inhumane, cruel, and short-sighted. Despicable.
Jessica: When I hear Republicans out there talking about their plan for education in America, I don't hear them talking about making sure disabled kids have access to a public education.

Greg: Because we're against it.

Most global citizens understand that incivility occurs, what sets these figures apart is that the US (as a collective, not many of the individuals/organisations fighting against it) empowers gun ownership within the broader policy/public cultural discourse without the same consideration of impact

Such a great initiative with global appeal. I hope this marks the start of a new model that can better serve all communities.
Here in Australia, looking forward to a new Costco opening up not far from me in the next few weeks. Even from abroad, making sure my $$$$ support the values I hold dear
Another reason to ❤️ Costco.

While Target and others cancel diversity to appease Trump, Costco’s investing in the community—building apartments above its stores, starting in LA.

This $425M project includes 184 low-income units, with key services, plus a rooftop pool and fitness center.

An insightful way to understand human behavior…and our own behaviors if we genuinely want to achieve democratic progress
D Suicide: Let's say you, and I are friends, and one night, we decide to go out and hit the town...and party it up. You want to go to Nightclub X. I want to go to Nightclub Y.

We both stand our ground and wind up parting...each going to our chosen Nightclub. The next afternoon, we text each 1/5

Trump Chap. 2:
‘Keep them dumb,
Keep them sick,
Keep them poor’
This political position is universal and infests the mindsets of even the most vulnerable in Aus 🇦🇺
Today is not the day to address campaign strategies (we can talk!) but a day to centre and prepare for the times ahead (US and globally!)

10:23pm (20 Jan) in Aus 🇦🇺. Dreading knowing what I (and the world) wakes up to (whether they know it or not…likely, the latter). We stand tall. We stand ethical. We stand united.

Academics of BlueSky:
How do you respond to other academics misrepresenting their expertise and spreading reckless and dangerous opinions? For example, engaging with the media as an ‘expert’ on topics they have never conducted any research and have no credible experience

Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating in the USA.
While some (myself included) are deflated by the prospect of the next four years, I encourage you to use today to pause, reflect, and prepare. The next four (min. two) years require your strength, determination, and advocacy.
Love, Sam (from Aus 🇦🇺)

Hopefully the people who run this platform fully understand the many reasons why a mass exodus of people has fled toxic X, and will do their best to ensure this place never becomes anything like that.

People of BlueSky:
Really liking the BlueSky app. Has anyone identified a universal acronym/image to use in place of the full name. ‘BS’ feels wrong, but a shortened version appears necessary given the character limit…

Half way around the globe (Aus) and so glad to have moved away from X/Twitter.
As an academic in inclusive education, I cannot have a feed flooded with such bigotry.
Looking forward to hearing inspiring voices here, moving forward, and never giving up on the fight for justice!
