I have now lived a long and full life, with a Republican Treasury Secretary saying that adding a national sales tax -- imposed on an odd assortment of goods -- *raises* economic growth.
Can't wait to raise other taxes to raise growth further.

Notice that a senator is saying that the president is too stupid or senile to know what's in this bill and his advisers are lying to him about it. Maybe someone in the press should pick up on that!
Republican Senator Thom Tillis: What do I tell 663,000 people and two years or three years when President Trump breaks his promise by pushing them off of Medicaid. Trump's advisers in the White House are not telling him that the effect of this bill is to break a promise.

I mean, this is precisely why the right started using “great replacement” rhetoric. If there’s an “invasion,” then it implies a war, and you can justify suspending the rights of all Americans. Trump isn’t exceptional in this regard—Bush, other, walked so he could run.
