North Korea revealed its first nuclear submarine

Preliminary estimates, based on the known height of the North Korean leader (5' 7"), suggest that it is around 12.5m in diameter. So around 4 times larger than the country's current largest sub

My latest line of thought is that it is most likely a double-hull submarine. So outer diameter might be a tad less than estimated (because it might not be round), and inner hull maybe 9-10m diameter.

Still a ginormous submarine, think DELTA class

If we measure the ENTIRE length of the first stage, it is now 10.02 m or 38.09 cubic meters. (Again assuming Ted's 2.2 m diameter is correct, which it definitely isn’t.) The first stage of Ted’s Hwasong-18 is now … 74 percent larger by volume than the Topol-M.

We talk about the comparison briefly in the report so I'll breeze through it here: Russian ICBM systems align the missile via a reference gyrocompass in a box mounted to the side of the missile canister. The Hwasong-18 has no such equipment.

Ted says the Hwasong-18 is the Topol-M. So let’s start with some facts. The first stage of the Topol-M (RS-12M) is 1.86 m in diameter and 8.04 meters long. Russia had to declare this data under the START Treaty.

Ted says the Hwasong-18 is 2.2 m in diameter. That’s much bigger than the Topol-M at 1.86 m. Ted is wrong about the diameter of the Hwasong-18, but more important: Ted does not understand the implication of his diameter for his own argument.

I cannot stress this last point enough.

KJU and daughter inspecting the Chollima-1 rocket at Sohae, I think for the May or Aug 2023 failed launch since Kim is in a t-shirt and seems like it's the NADA logo on the fairing instead of NATA as we saw in Nov 2023

Interesting that KJU decided to observe the launch from his 'situation room' at the party HQ in central Pyongyang. I don't know any other example like this (away from launch spot) besides early satellite launches. Room used for CMC meeting in April 2023 and July 2020
