Which is why you can trust us on the "peace deal" now proposed.

Putin has nothing to gain from peace on its own. It will have to be peace as a result of Ukraine's surrender. The U.S. is only interested in short term cash gains for the regime leaders so Putin can pay them off if they push Ukraine to surrender.
Vladimir Putin has used a blend of charm, stalling and pointed threats to show US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner exactly where Russia stands on peace with Ukraine, making the Americans wait several hours for a meeting about ending the war in Ukraine.

‘We’re not further from peace’: Kushner and Witkoff step into Putin’s war game
Who’s to blame for Russia’s war on Ukraine dragging on for years? According to Putin, it’s Europe.

No shit, Sherlock.

“Incrementalism in military aid disrupted Ukraine’s battlefield momentum and provided time for Russian forces to adapt; it gave the Kremlin time to surge Russia’s defense industrial base…reduced domestic pressures on Putin…masked Russia’s weaknesses, and undermined America’s policies.”
As ISW’s Nataliya Bugayova writes, Putin counts on offsets — using operations and partnerships in one region to offset the limits of Russia’s capability in another. (1/7)

Ukraine wants peace. Lasting, just, sustainable peace, and not a pause before the next bloodbath. I cannot stress this enough.

It looks like Ukraine will reach the moment it has been fearing but also probably preparing for: the end of US support.

Ukraine simply cannot agree to this surrender document. It is not losing the war (it is not winning either). It can and will fight on. Time for Europe to step up.... sigh.

Now the phrase ‘American security guarantees’ is being thrown around, which frankly means nothing, especially under the current administration.

Handing an invading army of torturers, rapists, and murderers everything they want won’t bring peace, it will only encourage them to do it again.
