Agreed on both counts. I don't see a point in going for another "Bond starting out" movie so relatively soon after Casino Royale (relatively, but Craig was the outgoing guy... the movie doesn't feel dated at all)

I am a *stickler* for tight continuities but Bond has demonstrably succeeded not doing that and manages to make it work, how on earth can a professional author be so literal minded that they can't roll with that?

And I do think that’s unique to him. There would be a cost to say that about Nancy Pelosi, or Bernie, or Hakeem Jeffries, or Biden. We might feel like saying that to one or two but someone would get upset. I don’t think anyone would care about Schumer.

You might even call it

I'll see myself out

That's awful, I'm sorry

Huh. I always thought that was just for shrapnel risk.

haven't played FE7 in decades and didn't realize this was one of your posts and I immediately was like "this gives me vibes of a giant prick rogue from an old FE game but I'm not sure which"

Cornell Alumni affairs office in NYC is 212-351-7660 if you're an alum and want to tell them what you think.

Since Cornell is also a land grand institution and partly statutory you might want to give Hochul a call as well.

If there are actually studies about the prevalence of media literacy over time I'll bow to them, but standard literacy in children as a proxy for media literacy globally is really iffy.

I'm making a take from my gut, not social science, and the extrapolation is based on how much of our media and language is meta-analytic and a general awareness that the internet makes minority/negative positions disproportionately easy to see.

media literacy isn't limited to reading literacy, and that phenomenon is mostly a result of the disruption of COVID -- not a general worldwide trend

watch them go "the only geth blowed up were the ones based on reaper code and wouldn't you know it, there was a large holdout of ones that had yet to get the upgrade" and just handwave off the death toll

I'm pretty sure it'd work

Esp. since extended ending destroy with high EMS doesn't even blow up the relays for good iirc.

but you could also very reasonably say "all your infrastructure blowed up but your scientists and books weren't", society develops along similar ways with twists, people come back from Andromeda and you recognize all the nations and most the tech involved just not the politics.

someone could very reasonably write a galaxy after Destroy (esp. after *original launch* Destroy) that looks nothing like the past one
