The casual way the agent on the roof fires on an unprotected minister is chilling. What in the world could provoke such a response? I want to hear an agent explain this to his mother. No, his grandmother.
Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area ICE facility and began to pray.

The masked ICE agents on the roof responded by firing pepper balls, with one striking him in the head

The AUSL is far from the first women’s pro softball league to captivate audiences. Before the current women’s sports boom, before Title IX, women stepped up to the plate in the 1940s and ‘50s. Curious City finds: https://trib.al/byidigi
A league of Chicago’s own: The other women’s pro league of the 1940s
There was the Rockford Peaches, women’s pro baseball team of the 1940s. But a pro softball league also had fans going wild.

This investigation by @carriejohnson.bsky.social into abuse and bullying within the federal judiciary is absolutely damning and horrifying. Worth a read, and I hope it helps change things. www.npr.org/2025/03/01/n...
In the federal court system, law clerks find little recourse for bullying and abuse
An NPR investigation finds federal judges have enormous influence with few checks on their power. Law clerks and other judicial employees are vulnerable to mistreatment and have few job protections.

Wow. I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and say AI counterpoints are for search engines, not newspapers. While I'm out on this limb, I am going to risk my journalistic integrity and say the KKK and Nazis? Bad.
Earlier today the LA Times had AI-generated counterpoints to a column from @gustavoarellano.bsky.social. His piece argued that Anaheim, the city he grew up in, should not forget its KKK past.

The AI "well, actually"-ed the KKK. It has since been taken off the piece.

Important Vexillological update. The very good people at #UnderRocks podcast/WNIU sat me down for a full discussion of the IL flag controversy. We get into much more detail than this puny platform allows. Please give it a listen with your family tonight!
