Watching all the (male) cardinals at the funeral of the (male) pope had me asking some questions. Why, over the years, have women gained equal rights in society but not in religion? Men and women are equal in the eyes of God, no? www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

A gobsmacking story. Water companies let toxic waste disposers, for cash, dump their loads into sewage farms. The sewage sludge is then spread, untested, on farmland, potentially poisoning vast areas, entire ecosystems and the people (you and me) eating the food.

Thanks to breathtaking negligence, the liquid fertiliser used to help grow our food bubbles with a lethal cocktail of toxins, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

My sons' book today had an excerpt about the first woman astronaut, Sally Ride. It said she applied to a program at #NASA that was recruiting women, which eventually led her to become the first American woman in #space. And this, my friends, is because "more people" drives our financial model - growth. "More people" secures our future pensions. How, then, do we find room in this model for sustainability? How can we save our grandchildren from spiralling climate change? #climatecrisis www.ft.com/content/a74d...

Given climate change is a scientific fact, affecting every part of the world & which is eroding our ability to sustain life on the planet, this appears to be a bizarre move by the most influential & powerful country in the world. Where is their humanity? Is profit all there is? #climatecrisis

Uplifting personal perspective for my climate change doomers and those with anything equally incurable. @climatecasino.net
Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.
