I've expanded my outreach options as well, so if anyone is need of help but on a budget, don't hesitate to reach out for a consultation and a quote in your budget. I volunteer all the time and enjoy contributing to my scientific community!

Unfairly harshly grading students doesn't motivate them. The key here is "unfairly". Having high expectations for students is a good thing, but playing transparent mind games never works the way one would expect... especially with motivated students who know they deserve better grades.

If the average exam grade is significantly less than 75, and the class size is reasonably large, the exam and/or the instructional methods need to be re-evaluated...even if "one student got a 95+".

With the leaves changing and #fall at its peak, consider giving my podcast episode on the #STEM of the fall season a listen! Great for #kids asking why leaves change colors, or how #bugs prepare for the winter. No ads!

I knew #numberblocks was good but I didn't expect my 5yo to suddenly factor 289000 into 17 and 17000 in his head at dinner this evening. Never underestimate kids when teaching #STEM. Asked him how he did it and he said he was thinking of rabbits 😂 🍎 #math #kidsarecool #parenting #rabbitmath

Just because something "sounds science-y" doesn't mean it's right. I constantly see confidently incorrect posts on social media platforms (looking at you #reddit) where someone explains science with confidence and everyone believes it. Always #factcheck what you read. People are wrong A LOT. 🧪👩‍🔬🥽🍎🧬⚛️

Iridescence of dragonfly wings is caused by structural coloration. When light passes through microscopic surface structures w/varying refractive indices, constructive & destructive interference occur. This enhances some wavelengths of light, creating vivid colors dependent upon viewing angle 🧪🍎🥽👩‍🔬🌱🧬⚛️
