No matter how hard people try to convince us having empathy is wrong,

it is right.

No matter how hard people try to convince us that diversity is a weakness,

it is a strength.

No matter how hard people try to convince us that love is limited,

it is unlimited.

Vassily Grossman: "Good men and bad men alike are capable of weakness. The difference is simply that a bad man will be proud all his life of one good deed -- while an honest man is hardly aware of his good acts, but remembers a single sin for years on end."

Transgenic means that genes from 1 organism have been put into another. We make transgenic mice to understand how genes influence biological processes. We make transgenic plants to make them more nutrient rich. We make transgenic bacteria so they make medicine for us. It's wide-ranging & v. useful.

There's a lot about him that reminds me of my father.

They're not good memories. You can't have a relationship with someone who barely recognizes the existence of other people.

He isn't a demon, just a deluded old man.

Those alanis morrissette singles were so bulletproof that i bet you could take one line from any of them and make it worse by an order of magnitude like "i've got one hand in my pocket and the other one is in the other pocket" and it still would've been a hit

The biggest reason why I dislike the idea of respectability in dress is because it conflates the *appearance* of virtue with *actual* virtue. Wearing a suit doesn't make you respectful, intelligent, or capable, just as wearing a leather jacket doesn't make you rugged.

Not true. I'll give you some examples of when styles crossed over from womenswear to menswear, and how men have worn straight-up womenswear or just feminine styles in cool ways. 🧵

The greatest trick the devil pulled was convincing people they had more in common with politicians who show up twice a decade to ask for votes than their own neighbours who live with them every day
A lot of white Dems really thought their politicians were saviors.

They are finding out the hard way that even and especially in the most dire times, their electeds are not leaders.

Until they reckon with the fact that their faith was misplaced, they will not be able to locate hope.
What I have a problem with... so few dems showed up to help activists over the decades but they're experts at hiding and wwwhining on the internet.

Truly one of the hardest parts of advocating for the working class is advocating even for those who vote against their own interests. Union work has taught me that it really has to be the working class vs. the bourgeoisie or nothing.

Recently I had some havarti for like the first time in years and it’s actually pretty tasty? It’s not it’s fault it was the cheese of the 90s and got overhyped by sandwich chains, havarti deserves another chance
