Louise Adler sets out powerfully how the Adelaide Writers Week debacle was not a one-off.

But part of a dangerous anti-democratic pattern of efforts by the Israel lobby, the Murdoch media, and their political supporters to cancel Palestinian voices and silence dissent. #abc730 #auspol

China is now the leading clean energy powerhouse with the West falling behind.

The transition is inevitable; the key question is where and how fast it happens.

I look forward to discussing this in Davos next week at the World Economic Forum, facilitating a live-streamed session on electrostates.

Please share.. ICE THUGS shot & killed a woman in Minneapolis. Then attack citizens point blank with teargas grenades, pepper ball guns & chemical spray in the faces. Of course, Greg Bovino was in the mix. He needs to be brought up for murder charges.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

If I could ask one question of the Prime Minister.. I would like to understand his definition of “hate preachers that promote violence”, bc signing missiles that fall on children & hanging out with a genocidal army would absolutely fit the bill if he was of any other religion.Explain it to me..

Never forget it took less than a day for the right-wing conservative forces in Australia politics and media to turn the Bondi massacre into their own political grandstanding in order to sew division.

Contemptible.

Because it’s not getting reported on enough:

Muslim fruit shop owner Ahmed al Ahmed, father of two, was the hero who bravely tackled one of the Bondi Beach shooters and took away his gun.

He saved lives during a major terror attack. Say his name, and honor the lives of the victims of the shooters

Australia must reject any US pressure to pledge support for any military action against China which would be motivated by US economic imperatives even more than security.

ANALYSIS: What the defence minister has tried to dismiss as a diplomatic non-event is a serious harbinger of what the US demands of Australia, particularly over AUKUS.

Australia Institute analysis shows policies allowing virtually unlimited exports of gas from eastern Australia led to a TRIPLING of gas prices and DOUBLING of wholesale electricity prices.

We have a gas export problem, not a gas shortage problem.

Getting government away from delivering services creates the possibility of stacking government with incompetent loyalists.
Totalitarianism in power invariably replaces all first-rate talents, regardless of their sympathies, with those crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is still the best guarantee of their loyalty.

Everyone in DC knows that if you want to hide something, announce it on a Friday in August. Better yet, make it nearly impossible to track down.

That's exactly what SCOTUS did last week. But the news is too staggering to hide for long: SCOTUS has decided it's time to destroy the Voting Rights Act.
The Supreme Court prepares to end voting rights as we know it
And they don't want you to notice.

Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have both criticised the definition, claiming it has seen those documenting Israel’s human rights abuses being falsely accused of #antisemitism. #auspol
Bogus charges of antisemitism are the new McCarthyism
The word antisemitism has become so debased that depending on who is using it, I might well take it as a sign that the accused is worth listening to.

It is hard to see what or who is going to stop this carnage. The UN seems impotent and Europe unwilling. The US is so far down the rabbit hole nothing good can be expected from them.
The Israeli government is depraved. It's deliberately starving and murdering children. The world, and Australia, must make a stronger stand with sanctions. The people of Australia demand it.
UN secretary-general says Israel’s war on Gaza is intensifying ‘with atrocious levels of death and destruction’.

It's a disgrace. Also the bill contains a clause disallowing Courts from challenging unconstitutional actions by the President.
Look at the take for the top 0.1% (those making above $4.3M/yr).

Then look at the take for the rest of Americans.

This bill is a heist.

Thank goodness Europe and the UK have made known their disapproval of the Israel government's actions in Gaza. They must impose sanctions. Australia should follow suit.

Today's data shows some of the expected softening in the labour market, but unemployment is still really low at 4.1 per cent.

Under Labor, unemployment is low, inflation is down, real wages are rising again, interest rates have started to come down and growth is rebounding solidly. #auspol #ausecon
