Yep. That man who is a malicious idiot, a pathological liar and a malignant narcissist is treated like he is a serious person by media and some US institutions.

Good of you to acknowledge that Albanese is clever at politics.
January 22, 2026 at 4:36 AM
Exactly. The Yanks did this in 1953 when they ousted Mossadegh, who was democratically elected and replaced him with the Shah who had been rejected by the people. That led to the revolution of the Mullahs.

Louise, thanks for your principled stand over writers week.

Well said. It is easier for the governments, to pay billions of $ to the US for imaginary subs than pay states to run excellent health services. Also it is easier to allow industry and the rich to pay less tax than raise more to pay for services.

Either would be better than the question to Albanese asking if Morrison was being considered! Must have been from Sky 'News' or the un-Australian.

Eloquent and to the point. Truer words have rarely been uttered in the face of the hypocrites of the Murdoch media.

Metaphorically.

Australia has a very fair voting system run by independent electoral commissions (for state, federal, and Council elections). Elections are held on a Saturday, pre-polls open 2 weeks before election day and mail-in ballots are available on application. So Trump's post is bullshit.

Sussan throws around 'left' and 'right' as though there is an equivalence. The left believe in fair wages and workers rights, equality, compassion for the differently abled, a dignified retirement, redistribution through fair taxes, public ownership of services. The right believe the opposite.

Carney has been doing some things to Trump lately (negatively affecting the US economy), to which Trump is reacting badly. He is doing these things without fanfare. I think Starmer, Carney and Albanese are just being very careful about making a lot of noise to no discernible effect.

Laura has written a reasonable analysis and even mentioned the embargo the US has had in place on Valenzuela for years which has contributed to their economic woes for which Maduro is blamed. The temerity of Trump shows how unhinged he is. Watch out any country (eg Canada) who defies him.

One way or another it seems 2025 was the big year for predatory men with huge egos, a sense of entitlement to women's bodies and no shame.
December 24, 2025 at 9:04 AM
Well said. The political classes are using this tragic event to try to undermine Albanese and Labor in a way which departs from past such events (when the Liberals were in power). Some elements of the Jewish community who support Netanyahu and the coalition, are taking the opportunity to 'get Albo'.
December 24, 2025 at 12:33 AM
In particular I don't like quotes from a Redbridge pollster who is an adviser to the Liberal Party being quoted opining on Albanese's performance as though it is a universal view. As someone else said here, Howard wasn't blamed for Tas shooting or Abbott for Sydney shooting. Why is Albo to blame.
December 24, 2025 at 12:30 AM
That article by Tom McIlroy and another was rather flawed in my opinion. I think the Australian people generally don't like what Netanyahu is doing to Gazans and the West Bank. Equally they don't like the cruelty of Hamas. Mostly they fear the importation of those conflicts to Aus soil....
December 24, 2025 at 12:26 AM
Liberals will tie themselves in knots trying to rationalise their attempts at watering down anti-discrimination laws, as they did in their last term in office, with their fawning attempts to lock in Jewish voters in city seats by arguing those same laws should be strengthened.
December 23, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Exactly. Frydenberg is beyond contempt. I hope he decides to return to politics and is defeated yet again. However, I'm guessing the sinecure his mates provided will prove too cosy for him to hit the hustings again.
