Saw this guy hanging out by the tracks (I didn't want to bother him any more than I already had, so I went another direction)
A deer with antlers stands just out of a wooded area to the right (train tracks are just out of view to the left). He sees me but isn't overly concerned since I'm quite a ways away.

I've been thinking a lot about the city during, and after, a blizzard. We get one or two a year during normal years, and I've been thinking about how we check up on each other.

I love it when I get a wrong number text and they argue with me that I'm really that other person. So much for trying to be nice by letting the person know they should figure out their friend's real number. If blocking doesn't get the message across, at least I won't hear from this person again

Big time wild turkey action on the street this morning
Three tom turkeys on full display in the middle of the street. The foreground (including the turkeys) is in deep shade, and the background of trees and a school is in bright sun. Three more turkeys a little later, milling around a house near the other three. They're also all puffed up. The original three tom turkeys, now gleaming in the morning sun, still in the middle of the road. The object of all this attention: one hen turkey considering her options. Good thread on how awful Reagan was. I was a teen in the 80s, & it was awful. I felt a constant dread that he was going to get us into a nuclear war. It was clear that all his policies only helped the rich. He couldn't have cared less about AIDS or anyone not like him. His speeches sucked.

Sitting pretty

The org I work for often needs to draw info from the fed govt for our own reports, and we editors double check usage. Several weeks ago, I checked the NIH's guidelines on race and national origin and left the tab open; today I went to that tab, and the info was gone--replaced with "access denied."
