Finished reading Jamel Brinkley's Witness, and it's the kind of stories I feel we don't really see much of in contemporary American publishing anymore. A slice-of-life type stories but fully realised; "nothing happens" on the surface level of plot but everything happens.

Joking aside, that this shit is computationally expensive and only exists because of venture funding is absolutely key to remember. Just because cost is invisible to us doesn’t mean it’s not there. The net is very good at distancing us from this.
