The most important thing Europe needs to do is to accept that the US is NOT RELIABLE, and plan on the basis that US will stop all support to Ukraine AND restrict exports of critical supplies to other NATO countries. That is the reality.

I think what makes this moment feel so big and groundbreaking is that even those among us who have been talking about the need/danger of a Europe without the US for a long time, were usually in the mindset of a US disinterested in Europe. But not a US actively hostile to Europe& European interests.

Ok, good for them, but what air-to-air missile are they using that it makes economic sense to shoot down a Shahed with a missile from a jet?! Unless the economics of that whole approach have changed or this remains very much a last resort kind of thing.

But I am sure the "originalists" on the Supreme Court will find a way to twist logic so far. Maybe "at the time the constitution was written there were a lot of kings - so the founding fathers could only conceive the constitution with this limiting their headspace." or something along these lines.

I’d call their legal arguments “laughable”… but the Supreme Court granted Trump absolutely immunity from prosecution for “official” acts so clearly some of them also think being elected makes you a dictator
