Austerity is always a political choice.

Political leaders understand too well the life threatening damage caused by cruel and economically illiterate cuts to benefits for the most vulnerable.

Calling for care in the planned cuts adds insult to injury.

I can't be arsed with Valentines day. This year I had a root through my husbands stuff, found a card I sent him a couple years ago and gave it him again this year. He's none the wiser and I've saved a couple quid. I've stashed a few old cards to re-use over the next few years too

A science fiction magazine has just given my my debut by publishing one of my short stories. I am very happy that the editor liked it enough to pay me. I must likewise acknowledge Button Moon, which inspired me and established my love of science fiction.

First job was as a picker for supermarket deliveries. I had never cooked. Looking back, the worst substitution I did was 1kg of raw carrots for a decorated carrot cake.

The #1 reported reason people avoid doctor’s appointments is because they’re afraid of finding out they have a serious illness.

If you have that fear, that’s normal and you’re not alone. Also remember, there is basically no serious illness that isn’t less serious if you catch it sooner.

@sammgreg.bsky.social Interesting to note cllrs for central Sheffield reposting loads of spin from others on national and international issues they have no say or influence over yet no mention of alleged major issues in student halls inc. no locks on doors for ages ...

Outside the school, I intercepted and confronted the parent of the boy who has been bullying my daughter. During the exchange, our German Shepherd, Apollo, cocked his leg and pissed on the bully's leg and shoe. Good boy Apollo got treats and a new toy from me.

It’s Christmas Eve and our Assertive Outreach Team in Leeds are out trying to find our homeless patients to give them clothes, blankets and sleeping bags

No one should be homeless, least of all those with severe mental illness

We don’t make nearly enough noise about our broken housing system
Finland gave every homeless person a house and within 6 months 85% had a job and were financially independent.

Less crime, less hospital visits, less suffering and even including the cost of the house, LESS COST than the UK/USA method of abandoning them on the streets.
