The Reality TV President show is really awful. Still brings up bad memories of Stephen King’s The Running Man. Which incidentally is getting a new screen adaptation this year.
Ideally, when your country’s on the brink of war, you don’t want a reality TV game show host hyping it like: “Will we bomb them? Will we not? Tune in for the next episode of “Who Wants to Start World War III?”

Amen.
Guys, I just want to say that on Friday I renewed my library card and took out a bunch of books that are not worthy, or serious, or educational. They're just stories, and they have already fundamentally made my mental health better.
Thank God for the story tellers.

At the end of today’s newsletter there’s a general overview of how people are standing up for democracy. @ariellaelm.bsky.social has been marking these efforts—both large and small—daily, if that’s the kind of galvanizing content you need.

Did you know every $1 invested in our statewide digital library (MeL) returns $25+ to Michigan? $4.8 million in federal IMLS funding has a huge impact on our state. But now it's at risk.📚💔

You can visit bit.ly/ProtectLibraryFunding to tell your reps how the order to eliminate IMLS could impact you.

And why thoughtful history books for kids are so important. I hear the History Smashers series is great ❤️😉
When I present to kids about history, we talk about how some history gets lost by accident - and how some is intentionally erased. That's when it falls on all of us to make sure those stories are shared. www.npr.org/2025/03/14/g....

One of the words that keeps popping up lately is engagement. And while it’s a little buzz-wordy, I think that reinvigorating our civic engagement is so utterly necessary. This seems like a reasonable idea to incorporate into all the many ways to be engaged in society and political life.

There's an event today to Stand Up for Science, and I can't go because I don't work near DC or the state Capitol.

If that's you, too, perhaps you can stand up by reading this and being prepared to defend basic research when people in your life mock it. wapo.st/4byrVAk. [GIFT LINK]

Lifelong learning is important. Visit or call your local library to look up words like “transgenic.”
Trump claims DOGE found $8M in wasted spending on "making mice transgender."

It was actually $8M for transgenic mice, used to study gene function or generate models to help cure genetic disease in humans.🤦‍♂️
