70% of the additional spending from removing the two-child limit will go to families who are in work. This is targeting support for low-income working households who are being priced out of a decent standard of living despite doing everything asked of them.

Love love love! I'm doing the same, with Discworld and a couple of other series (Adrian Mole! Tales of the City!) Trying to mostly stick to charity shops, so I have to carry around a Got, Got, Need list at all times, so joyful when you find one

And that was just my little life. Our 4 tv channels were often boring, cycling anywhere was terrifying. There was a huge recession, section 28 made life miserable for many, marital rape was still legal till I was 14, ffs.

Chatting to some gloomy septagenarian pals recently, I reminded them during my 1990s schools in West London, pollution was terrible, mugging common, buses unreliable (45 min waits common), terrorist bombs and scares disrupted us regularly, kids had to pay for public transport, etc etc. It was worse!

A small desk calendar? A potted amaryllis bulb?

How fab! I still remember the happy day, 25 years ago, when I read Chocolat cover to cover with a stash of chocolate beside me, bliss. How about microwave cake ingredients in a nice mug? Good quality hot chocolate. A small or handmade tree/christmas decoration? A nice fake candle?

Don't want to be too appallingly earnest, but over our decade aboard we found the opposite to be true. Boats are quite easy to keep warm, even when it's snowy and icy, but a bugger to cool down in summer.

Also, though maybe too late for tomorrow... If you have a small insulated lunch bag, lots of things freeze well, and will be just defrosted enough by the time you're ready to eat, including cheese and smoked salmon. And they also keep other things cool in the bag.

Be careful with nuts, as a severe allergy in a fellow passenger could mean a request not to eat them on the plane. Personally I'm a fiend for crisps, but healthier options like oatcakes are great, if dull. Good with stable cheeses and chutney. Olives carry well.

It reminds me of the attention Mick Lynch gained, too. Plain and clear speaking, with passion, isn't as common as it might be.

Haha! My normal commute to Westminster was so death-defying yesterday I cancelled my plans to work in the office today. Happy to see so many people cycling, wish to god they weren't all so inept 😆

It's exactly the same for mobility scooters! Took us ages to sell Grandad's, which was nearly new. He'd insisted on brand new and top of the range, and I guess others do too.
