Indeed, the law specifically states that the CPB "will not be an agency or establishment of the United States Government" and sets up a series of measures intended to "afford the maximum protection from extraneous interference and control."
President Trump seeks to fire three of the five board members for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

The CPB - led by a former head of the GOP - sues the White House, saying Trump doesn't have the authority to do so.

Note: This is not like any other "removal" case, not even from a multi-member board. CPB is a private corporation.

The lawsuit reflects that: It is not just the purportedly fired people suing; this is the entity & the whole board. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is the lead plaintiff here.
