The US has had its share of shitty leaders, but most of them have had lines they wouldn't cross. It's terrifying that we're about to find out what happens when we get one for whom there are no lines. 2/2

It's really frightening to learn just how much of our system of government is dependent on its leaders acting in good faith. 1/2

This is what I've been trying to articulate for a while. With the courts on his side, and once he fills the Justice Department with his toadies, who's going to stop him? Hell, who would be able to stop him from cancelling the next election and declaring himself king?
Just ran into my first person who said “Trump can’t do that because the Constitution says…”

My friend, the Constitution is a piece of paper that lacks enforcement power. The way you uphold the Constitution is to not elect people who will violate it.

Blocking Nazis, trolls, and fascists doesn’t make it an “echo chamber.” People need to stop gaslighting us into thinking we have to listen to Nazis and debate trolls in order to be informed.

Serious question: how do I not sink into nihilism at this point? I've been teetering on the edge of it since 2016, but gained a bit of optimism in 2020, which is now all gone. I feel hopeless and helpless and like nothing I could do would make much of a difference so why even bother?

if the media’s surreptitious end goal was to get TFG elected for ratings well the JOKE IS ON THEM because I can go a really long time without knowing the news, just watch me queue up these back seasons of Expedition Unknown, my platonic parasocial BarCon relationship with Josh Gates will save me

Would love for my first post here to be some brilliant witticism, but in the wake of the horrible election news this week and the prospect of another four years of the orange shitgibbon, I feel neither brilliant nor witty. So...hi.
