⚡🌀 Latest work now out in @jacs.acspublications.org! By screening a library of new chiral phosphonic acids, we identify molecular design rules for remote chirality transfer in 2D perovskites as well as improved materials properties for application in opto-spintronics ➡️ pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
Symmetry Breaking Induced by Chiral Phosphonic Acids in a 2D Tin-Halide Perovskite
The ability to induce and modulate chirality in metal halide perovskite semiconductors (MHPs) using chiral additives expands the compositional design space and offers a means of tuning chiroptical pro...

Not unexpected, but also not a good time for NREL. We can only hope a few senators/reps break party lines during the next budget and advocate for continuing US science. www.cpr.org/2025/05/05/n...
114 people laid off from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory
The cuts affected staffers in both the research and operations sides of the lab.

Huh, learned that Cell press (Joule, Matter etc.) is owned by Elsevier. Not apparent from the websites at all.

Happy earth day. As good a time as any for chemists to think about how they’re making the world a better place with their research, and that developing environmental solutions might be the best way to do that.

Please come say hi!👋 I'll be at Seattle MRS giving two talks:

1. Wednesday 4/9 415 pm room 427 Exploring Zintl-Phase Quantum Dots for Optoelectronic - Discussing new work on quantum dot synthesis. V exciting stuff

Im something of an investing guru. Bought 1 bulb of garlic, turned it into 9! Cant get these kind of returns on wall street

I have published my first corresponding author research paper & that is really exciting.

Annual reviews we wrote on chirality induced spin selectivity in halide perovskites. Lots of exciting experiments discussed, plenty of room to explore in the field. And beautiful figures to use in background slides!

Chirality-Induced Spin Selectivity in Hybrid Organic-Inorganic Perovskite Semiconductors | Annual Reviews
The movement of charges through a chiral medium results in a spin-polarized charge current. This phenomenon, known as the chirality-induced spin selectivity (CISS) effect, enables control over spin po...

Remember that AI lab paper claiming like 50 new AI discovered oxides. Then ppl were like no what are you talking about? those arent new, nor are they what the robot says. And the author was like, lol “theyre new to my AI” And then the paper never got retracted.

getting paper proofs is very exciting to see it all formatted, but then you realize you have to read it for the 10000th time

China is crushing it in solar installations. Sad that the U.S. can't be the leader in high tech energy production.

Maybe red bull can sponsor me. We can make a cute little vid of me in a lab coat and gen chem goggles shot-gunning a can, spraying everywhere. Then i go shake a L sep funnel with dyed red ether in it and spray it all over a fume hood . X-treme

21st is the century of bio, with all the major advances in biochem., genetics etc. The majority of these discoveries by American institutions. It feels like if this was the 20th century physics, we're cutting research off at Millikan/Schrod. etc & not getting to the "useful" stuff like transistors
