A Pacific Bottletail Squid (Sepioloidea pacifica) swimming above the sea floor at night. It is facing the diver, and it has its two centre arms raised upwards, the next two arms in front of its face, and the other arms pointing down and out. It appears to be making itself look big and scary, but it is just too small and cute. It has translucent blue flesh with dark down chromatophores over most of its body. You can see its suckers, which do not have chromatophores on them.

Usually when you see a photo of a Firefly Squid (Watasenia scintillans), its dark so you can see their spectacular bioluminescence.

But when they are illuminated, you can see they are a handsome little squid!

A Firefly Squid (Watasenia scintillans) swimming just above the sandy sea floor. It is illuminated, so you can see the squid clearly but its photophores are not glowing (or at least you cannot see their glow). It looks like a typical squid, although at the end of each of its two tentacles is a cluster of three black circles, which are photophores. The squid has translucent flesh with orange chromatophores.

A Papuan Cuttlefish (Ascarosepion papuense) swimming, facing in the direction of the camera, with arms raised. Its arms are in various positions and are wavy. Two pairs are pointing downward, and two pairs are pointing up. It's two centre arms are raised and curved in such a way that that gap in between forms a heart shape. The cuttlefish gas a reddish, almost magenta colour with white underneath and it has its papillae raised on its mantle and above its eyes.

This octopus seems so pissed that someone would disturb him while having a nice, quiet day at his bottle.

A Common Sydney Octopus (Octopus tetricus) sticking its head out of what appears to be a beer bottle, but the scale isn't clear and it could just be a brown jar. The octopus is a light gray with some orange on its suckers. It is just ticking its eyes out, and it sort of forms a Y shape. The octopus has horizontal pupils and it almost gives the appearance of being annoyed. Its skin has a bumpy texture. The background is out of focus.
