I’ve wanted to make bagels for a long time, and finally got around to it this weekend. Just pulled these out of the oven and I’m super pumped about this first attempt!

If I was reporting the weather, I would absolutely say things like “I don’t know about you, but it’s feeling 22,” and the occasional, “Nobody likes it when it’s 23”

I loved seeing this article in today’s @electionline.bsky.social! Leanne is the best of the best, and it’s so great to see all of her hard work as an election official detailed in her hometown paper. ❤️ 🗳️

When election results are released, no one is “ahead.” It’s just Schrödinger's box in the process of being opened.
I’m always looking for things that explain a lot but that people have a hard time remembering.

Examples: Air is stuff. Pee comes from blood. All land vertebrates have a single common ancestor. Venus is bright enough to cast visible shadows. Clouds are heavy. Bones are alive.

Any others you know?

Your local library also has a good place to work with fast internet, and you don’t have to buy a coffee
You know who has a printer that actually works? The library
A good sentiment and yes, get that card. But also, use the card. Walking through the door of your local library and utilizing the available services (books and beyond) counts more than having the card. I used to work for the library — those numbers matter.

I just listened to a great podcast episode with @katieharbath.bsky.social and @aaron.bsky.team talking about how Bluesky approaches trust and safety, and what makes Bluesky different from other platforms.

I’m curious if Bluesky can solve a particular problem with official content on the internet 1/

Did sundials outrank the Walkman? Is penicillin more iconic than Waymo? Only one way to find out!

Remember that ballot drop box in Clark County that was set fire? Here is how it was resolved and voters were protected:

488 damaged ballots were identified

345 of those voters had already request new ballots on their own

143 remaining ballots were mailed to voters

I never expected “the robots are coming for our jobs” to be this literal
LinkedIn is going to be the first social network where more than half of the accounts, posts, and comments are all fake. And that's beautiful to me
Analysis finds over 54% of longer English-language posts on LinkedIn are likely AI-generated; LinkedIn says it doesn't track how many posts are created by AI (Kate Knibbs/Wired)

Quick reminder that there is always an election happening somewhere (and prep for an election happening everywhere) 🗳️🇺🇸
In the 13 Georgia counties with runoffs there is early voting available. You need to check your My Voter Page supplied by @GaSecofState Raffensperger at mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/ for locations and hours. Make a plan to get out and vote.

Election officials around America worked to #Protect2024 - just as we successfully accomplished in 2020 and 2022 - despite the heightened threat environment, natural disasters, unprecedented staff turnover, and other monumental challenges.

We're on to #Protect2026.

It’s wild to me that the best source of this kind of data is anecdotal. And it works in reverse too. Imagine a world where no one knows what’s on TV and there’s no way of knowing what’s on TV because everyone’s TV is hyper personalized. Except that’s not imaginary, it’s the internet.

hard to exaggerate how nuts the engagement is on Bluesky compared to 𝕏. a vastly smaller user base (at least officially), but just look at these stats for one of the biggest newspapers on Earth. Musk has absolutely trashed the platform. folks, you are not locked in on 𝕏. not even a little.

The end result of an election is not the media calling a contest, but a thorough canvass and review of the events of an election. Those gold seals and signatures are so much more than decoration - they are the proof of the hard work of thousands of poll workers, officials, and canvassers.
This morning @GaSecofState Raffensperger certified the results of GA’s 2024 General Election. Our office is proud of the work of our elections division & counties for running a great, fair, & accurate election. The presidential certification will now be transmitted to @GovKemp

Instead of slowing everything down or labeling every piece of content, we should focus on the most impactful actions. In my mind, that’s authenticating official info and slowing down only the most potentially harmful autonomous actions
