Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day I can hear her breathing. - Arundhati Roy

Sun Gold in Smoke

As the world burns
I plant tomatoes.
Sun gold
in the thickening haze.

Eight in the ground
is nothing
to what is being lost,
but tomorrow
I’ll plant more.

The promise
of impossible
red orbs
and more rain
keeps me moving.

My goodness I actually made time to travel by myself and sit in an old used bookstore and look at books and write. This didn’t used to be such a feat to accomplish, which it makes it feel that much sweeter when it happens. Enjoy the result!

“These little adventures — especially when we’re willing to get a little uncomfortable in the rain or a small, no-frills airbnb — are reminders that the world is vast and shimmering with possibility, and that we’re never too small, too settled, or too late to go out and greet it.”

Small adventure: work remotely from your local gay bar.

I have the dual privileges of having a hybrid work arrangement and of living 5 minutes from VTs only queer bar/market/cafe. Why I don’t work from here more often is a mystery.

DId you ever wake up one day in your 40s and realize you had left some really important parts of yourself behind? Me too. Wondering what the hell happened to the spark I used to have, I started this substack to track my efforts to feed myself daily with good plants and small adventures.

1/5 Watched @hcrichardson.bsky.social & Sen. Angus King today. Sen. King spoke of writing your Reps. & Sen. How important it is, it does make a difference. Then saw this. A lot of screen shots but a good idea. Stick to issues effecting you or those you know. Be Specific.

CAFOs in Vermont should not be able to do whatever they want as long as it follows “standard agricultural practice.” There’s a lot of shady stuff that would fall under that definition, especially when it comes to animal ag.
