I teach chemistry and evolutionary biology... on the internet.
Marjorie and Pence are fascinating characters, no?

Not sure what to make of this.

Does anyone know the person behind this animation? The YouTube channel says to contact them via spronk3d.com, but this website no longer exists.

I suspect Chris Spronk from Lithuania is the animator but I can't find his current contact info.

Can we really "do our own research"? Um... People are trying on twitter: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy8w...

US healthcare is like a beautiful grocery store full of colorfully packaged items but most have no price tag, those that do are far lower than billed at the counter, and you never know if you're even allowed to buy anything until the cashier checks with your insurance "provider".

What went wrong?

Great, now even drugstore purchases signal your party affiliation.

I moved from Oregon 7 years ago but was recently summoned to Jury Duty there. I sent an email explaining and asked what my civic obligations are. I got a surprisingly friendly response:

"Thank you for this information. I’ve excused you from jury duty.

Have an awesome weekend!"

One for the #SciArt feed. Rik is too humble to admit it here, but he's the one who came up with the idea for this illustration! Looking forward to sharing more of these when the document is published.
I love this piece by @jordancollver.bsky.social

It’s part of a SciComm paper on the tools of storytelling I was lucky enough to get an early look at. I think it really sums up a lot of JC’s approach to art, science, belief, humanity and communication from the cave to the cosmos!

So much to unpack

I’m shipping to the USA again!
I’m happy to say that customers in the US can buy my stuff again, and that the shipping price-increase due to the new tariffs is minimal (50p!) So please check my bio for all the details and go grab yourself some stuff!
Please share.

Happy Publication Day to @rikworth.bsky.social for Pets Tell Tales: Ancient Egypt from @hachettechildrens.bsky.social, which I was lucky enough to get to draw.

This wasn't our first comic together and it certainly won't be our last (read as unthreateningly as possible).
PUBLICATION DAY!

Non-fiction, comedy comic aimed at 7-11 year olds, designed to encourage reading and critical thinking while supporting the KS2 curriculum and with brilliant artwork is by genius @jordancollver.bsky.social ?

What are you waiting for?

Why would some people risk their lives for their pet dogs, when that same person doesn't think twice before eating an equally sentient pig?

I see philosophers struggle with the "logic" here.

My advice to the philosophers: Study Darwin.

The repurposing of old traits for new functions is so important in evolution that scientists keep rediscovering it & thinking it needs a name:

Trait conversion
Preadaptation
Co-option
Neofunctionalization
Moonlighting
Exaptation
