If the white supremacists are celebrating the salute (they are), it was exactly what we think it was. We can name it a "roman" salute, but there is no historical reference of Romans using it. Even if they had, it cannot be unbranded any more so than the swastika can go back to being a peace symbol.

1. January 6th was not a "peaceful protest".
2. Many of those responsible will never be held accountable.
3. Not everyone there participated in the riot.
4. Those who were violent are not political prisoners, but criminals.
