Shreveport, LA, the largest city in Speaker Mike Johnson's district, has a murder rate more than twice Chicago's, and a crime rate considerably higher than both the state and national average. And Johnson isn't calling for the military to invade it. One of many ways we know this isn't about crime.

Will ICE send guys to Boston looking for red hair and listening for brogues? Or stake out delis in Chicago to see who buys a kielbasa?
No. This is about profiling people by skin color and language.

Tedious to point this out, but:

- When a tongue-tied Biden said "President of Mexico" instead of "Prez of Egypt," it was a several day story.

-Hours after Trump says whoever appointed J Powell made a big mistake (it was him), the episode appears not to merit a story on any national-media sites.

Loathe to praise NYT but this is actually a very useful mapping of the contemporary MAGA disinformation ecosystem.

It's notably missing the actual Nazi outliers and a lot of the more traditional GOP celebs/outlets, but gives a good sense of core MAGA players.

Their actions range from pressuring the administration to release more information to spinning additional conspiracy theories about the case of Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender.

But this is the opposite of making America great. I’ve taken trains in China and Japan. They’re in the 21st century. We’re still tinkering with toy train sets.

Comparing the number of deportations under Biden and Obama to Trump’s as a benchmark is so disingenuous. Yes, Biden and Obama deported more people, but—

I don’t remember masked men with no identification snatching people off the streets when they were president.

Terror is the mission under Trump.

China's favorability in most countries has ticked upward, while America's global favorability has diminished significantly since Trump took office.
Views of the U.S. have worsened while opinions of China have improved in many surveyed countries
Across 24 countries, more people have a positive view of the United States than of China.

We’ve seen it before in states that blocked Medicaid expansion. Hospitals shut down & never come back.
