I think we have now watched enough football to have some preliminary thoughts while acknowledging we should be patient and give this time. Watching the games and the numbers are really worrying.

Other thought is Kudus is up from 2.1 and 2.4 in his other prem seasons which surely shows how ridiculous the types of passes we are sending him, touch numbers for comparison.

Interestingly we are down our top two for last year, Deki has been top 2 every full season at the club. Can largely ignore Richarlison for last year as he has always been in the 1.9 and 1.5 in his other two seasons for us.

That's very encouraging

This is a great example of everyone going with their pre established beliefs. Seen lots of players named as the primary causes and it's really not in line with the actual breakdown.

When they were discussing what the priorities have been in the past this came to mind.

In goal Vicario has never done anything to this degree and how many of these guys are consistently + xG finishers. This isn't a Son and Kane situation.

Isn’t the club meant to be hiring a manager around an identity instead of creating an identity around the manager.

How has James Tarkowski got more through balls than us.

I think this will be our line up, i would not do this but it's what i think Frank will do similar to the "special operation" vs PSG as this will get Danso's long throw and maximise height for offensive and defensive set pieces, while getting both corner takers on the pitch.

I know there has been a lot of frustration with Porro and he was really bad last week but considering our progression issues dropping him would be a huge problem.

The difference in xGD with and without them under Ange was so extreme laughably so

The funniest part of discourse of defensive improvement so much is just having more minutes out of our elite CBs plus tightening up defending set pieces. 0.33 xG against this season from set pieces, 0.37 last year and 0.4 23/24. The more defensive approach gives the impression of defensive solidity
November 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM
Funny thing is if we just had a more structured rest defence, built up with more than a 2-1 and had the CBs fit plus defend sett pieces better, would have solved the defensive problems. The two defenders are so good it just fixes a bunch of problems by themselves.

There is no formula or weighting that will make Pahlinha look good in possession, he is just very limited at that, world class tackler but being an elite player at one thing isn't enough if you don't meet the on ball requirements.

Website is fbref I can get a comparison graphic of the two when I get to my computer. But they couldn’t be more different in profile.
